Located inside the historic and stylishly remodeled Waterhouse Hotel on the South Bund, Oxalis is a new restaurant offering sophisticated yet straightforward fare with a no-frills vibe. Using carefully sourced ingredients and a lighter high-quality approach to the classic bistro style, a native of Lorraine region, nearby Alsace in France, Chef Jonas Noël brings his version of fine, accessible cuisine to Shanghai. The Oxalis experience is defined by a casual, comfortable settings, refined cuisine, attentive service and value for money. Oxalis: a perfect gathering spot and neighbourhood gem.

The roots of the 'Oxalis' name can be traced to 2008, at Restaurant BRAS when he started to work with Michel Bras where together with the kitchen team, Jonas foraged herbs, plants and flowers in fields around the restaurant. Oxalis was one of the very first herbs he foraged. Resembling the shape of a clover with 3 leaves, oxalis boasts a characteristic sourness that goes well with both sweet and savory dishes. The herb is a symbol of the Chef’s vision for the restaurant: sourcing the finest ingredients and bringing to diners an artful presentation that reflects the Chef’s culinary background.

The menu features 4 sections: Bites, Small Servings, Shared Servings and Desserts. Guests can enjoy the freedom of creating a meal to be shared, or building a “tasting menu”. Oxalis encourages diners to explore all their menu option.

    前菜:肥而不腻的马鲛鱼 一开始稍有腥味,但和青绿色配料的酸奶搭配一起入口,清爽鲜嫩,完全能接受。
    主菜特意选了猪肩肉:很嫩但是感觉肥肉过多,就算佐了烤苹果 也平衡不了本身的油腻感。
    另外一份主食是比目鱼: 超级嫩。佐的柠檬黄油汁和鱼搭配,还有点青豆的味道,口味稍微清淡了点,但还是被我一下子全部吃完了。
    全场亮点是温泉蛋那个汤。绍兴黄酒和芝士打的丰富泡沫配上64度温泉蛋,层次感丰富,让人愉悦。
    甜品都很喜欢,当然更倾向于淡奶冻佐草莓。毕竟草莓是本人最爱。

    This restaurent was totally below expected food quality just brunch menu. If i have a chance to visit this restaurnt i want to going at night for tasting different menu.
