Downstairs at URBN, like the city of Shanghai, is where the East and West converges. Its unique blend of international fare and local influences is backed by inspiration from the world’s cultures and true innovation. Staying true to the heart of URBN, Downstairs incorporates environmentally aware and healthy eating philosophies into the menu.
Located on the ground floor of URBN, Downstairs boasts an outdoor courtyard surrounded by lush green ivy walls and verdant bamboo. An urban oasis far removed from the hustle and bustle of Shanghai, you’ll almost forget that you’re in one of the world’s biggest metropolises.
As an all day dining venue, Downstairs is great for weekend brunches (one of the most popular spots in Shanghai!), quiet business lunches and intimate al-fresco dinner dates. Or our favourite of all, is to spend a day having afternoon tea in our charming outdoor courtyard with friends, during the glorious summer time.
Keep your eyes peeled for our monthly drink and food specials, or choose to hold your next party at Downstairs for an unforgettable experience.

We really enjoyed ourselves when we dined there last week. Atmosphere was great and so was the food. The huge food portion was unbelievable for the price that we've paid. Service might be better if serving waiters were more attentive and cheerful. Our menus were left on the table long after we have made our order. They had to be told to take away the menus from our small table. However, the cheerful front desk attendant (lady) made our night rather enjoyable.

We had hopes for this dining experience but were let down. The menu for Restaurant Week was limited, as expected, and included selections that disappointed. While the food was, for the most part, delicious the value for what we paid was not even close to acceptable. The closest thing to meat was the meatloaf and while tasty, the largest portion on the plate was carrots.

Unfortunately the service didn't live up to expectations either. Once seated we waited almost five minutes before I got up and went to find a waiter to take our drink order. Our table had not been set prior to seating and it seemed as though the wait staff was busier chatting with each other than paying attention to the customers. We are by no means high maintenance customers but when we have to continuously search or flag down waiters it becomes annoying.

The atmosphere and decor of Downstairs was welcoming and peaceful, although the huge red wine stain on our booth was a bit disgusting.

Overall this was a disappointing and over priced evening. While the food that we ate was good, everything else from the price to the service was a let down.

This place was truly amazing, and the coolest restaurant I have been to in Shanghai. I was there for dinner so it was dark outside, but the ambience and its lighting was so cosy. And then they had a really charming corurtyard, where I felt far away from Shanghai's noice and crowds. You can see the chefs cooking your food, and everything tasted delicious. I will definitely go back there very soon.
