In January 2010 Bombana opened 8 1⁄2 Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA in Hong Kong, to delight the gourmet palate again with his unique sophisticated and yet contemporary culinary creations. Strategically located in the heart of Central, in the elegant Landmark Alexandra Building, the new project of the Italian “ Maestro” has already become the hottest high- end fine dining spot in town. The Restaurant name, selected personally by Bombana as a tribute to his favorite Italian film director Federico Fellini’s 1963 autobiographical movie “8 1⁄2”, is a celebration of Italian life style, art and an invitation to discover the Italian philosophy and pleasures. 8 1⁄2 Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA Hong Kong was awarded with three stars consecutively in the 2012 and 2013 Michelin Guide Hong Kong & Macau Edition, becoming the first Italian restaurant outside of Italy to achieve such honor.

After almost 20 years in Asia, Chef Patron Umberto Bombana has decided to make his first appearance in Mainland China and he has chosen one of the most unique and exclusive location in Shanghai : the Rockbund area.

8 1⁄2 Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA Shanghai has officially open its doors at February 2012, becoming one of the fine dining landmarks in Shanghai.

The service during the dinner was bad. As we were seated, we waited for quite sometime and in the end I had to request for the wine menu myself. Drinks were not yet being served even though the starters were already on the table. We had to constantly request for our wine glasses to be filled. The waiter was not payign attention to our requests and the cutlery was being 'thrown' on the table. The overall service felt rushed and inattentive.

Outstanding experience last night at this wonderful restaurant! Incredible food and wine - and delightful, accommodating staff. The charming Sicilian chef came our to visit us after dinner, which provided the perfect conclusion to a memorable meal. The pasta was everything advertised, as were the other dishes. Our only regret was not having enough time for the multi course degustation menu. Finished up with homemade chocolate and sweets!
