Description
Urban Thai was launched in 2011 by a mother-daughter duo, Mummy and Shahla.

Mummy is our beloved Thai chef. She succeeds in creating everyday a familial atmosphere in our cozy restaurant.
All her recipes are straight from Thailand. She brings the best Pad Thai, green and red curries, crabs, Pad Si Ew to the people of Shanghai. She loves to accommodate everybody by making it more or less spicy and vegetarian. Feel free to ask our waiter. For some of our VIPs she will also prepare some special out of the menu dishes. If you often come maybe you will get to try those…

Everything is fresh in our restaurant and we cautiously choose all our superior.

We try to waste as less as we can and follow strictly hygiene rules.

Our values are authenticity, conviviality and quality.

All of this is combined to a very fine selections of great but affordable wines as well as some signature drinks like the Bangkok breeze or
the Thai Iced Tea to complete this Experience.

    菜品口味比较适中,应该经过改良,能够让大多数的非泰国人接受。无功无过吧,在上海的泰国餐厅来说算是中等水平。和别家餐厅比起来,再餐前没有赠送龙虾片可能是做得不够的地方。

We went for dinner during restaurant week. Food took a long time to come out. The Tom yum soup was delicious, full of flavor and good balance of savory, sour and spicy. The chicken satay was dry and the other small bites ( fish cake, meatball, mussel) was ok. Next came a seafood rice noodle salad. This was my least favorite as the noodles were way overcooked and came out congealed and waterlogged. The basil pork was good, salmon curry also decent and pad Thai was fine although we told them no peanuts as there is a peanut allergy and Lo and behold, there were peanuts sprinkled all over. The curry and pad Thai could have used more spice. Last we waited about 40 minutes for the crab curry and it was underwhelming, not bad but too too salty. Mango sticky rice was very good for desert. And their Thai ice tea is one of my favorites.

Been there for lunch time, Managers and staff are very approachable. Food was very good and a lot of varieties (Phad Thai was amazing)including 1 round of drink.
Service was perfect and asked your feedback all the time. Environment and ambiance were good that's why we stay for another 2 rounds of beer after lunch. Thanks for the complimentary shot mango cello.
