    We have dined in many Restaurant Week events around the world. This is our second year for Shanghai. We were a party of four for the Restaurant Week lunch at 12:30 On 9/28/2017 at Albero.

    That day the dining room was quiet and the service was courteous and attentive. Early in our lunch we had a question about the olive oil they were serving. The server and the Spanish Head Chef (Mr. Alvaro Bonache Utiel) answered our question, so we learned something important from our lunch there.

    Mr. Utiel has impressive credentials and skills and is an asset to Albero and the Shanghai culinary scene. He was responsive and generous.

    The fixed lunch was an excellent reflection of well prepared refined Spanish dining. The small appetizers were fun and unusual (magic olives) and refreshing. The Nori rolls were very fresh and tasted good. We all enjoyed both the halibut and the beef cheeks selections No one regretted their choice. Everything came out well prepared and refined, including the composed dessert which was made in-house and a great balance of sweet and tart, passion fruit ice cream, mousse and merengue.

    At the end of the meal we wanted to see the menu to have some idea of what to try for our next visit. That is one of the important objectives for participation in a Restaurant Week: a point which is lost on many participating restaurants in Shanghai. The lunch was a good example of Alberto’s menu, and the quality of its food. We will return, and we will recommend Albero to our friends and clients.
