    Back home the only French restaurants are are very hoity-toity. I've never been one for having a napkin placed in my lap and the table swept periodically with a crumber. Le Bouchon was a breath of fresh air as it allowed for fine French food in a casual setting - no pretensions here, folks. The staff were highly attentive without being overbearing, and the manager May was lovely to chat with. A Chinese patron sitting near us hadn't liked a dish and she rather self-consciously inquired how we liked ours - we set her mind at ease by letting her know that the dish in question was exactly how we'd expect such a fine French dish to taste based on experience. We loved our asparagus with almonds, sun dried tomatoes, and cheese, the claims in butter were fantastic (how could anything in butter not be?,) the pea soup was very fresh and creamy, the French onion soup was a joy to eat, the beef in gravy was delightfully tender, and the whole rosemary chicken was juicy (although I'm almost ashamed to admit that I actually liked the duck fat potatoes that came with it, haha - so delicious!) Although my friend and I tried to diversify our choices on the set menu for Restaurant Week, there was no question that we would each be choosing to receive our own creme brulee - no sharing here! The caramelized sugar delivered a delightful crack when struck with a spoon and the upper layers were warm while the bottom was chilled - a magnificent and classic French dish. It should be worth noting that we were equally impressed with the generous cocktail portions.

    If you're looking for wholesome and traditional French food without all the social trappings that come with it, then I highly recommend Le Bouchon.

    Restaurant Week menus were very nice. Service was cordial. Small restaurant pleasant and casual place. Very able chef in a small kitchen reminiscent of local Paris neighborhoods.

    All starters and both soups were good and very satisfying.

    It was a hot day, drank some pleasant rose wine.

    Chicken and fish main courses were attractive and good. Entrecôte was ok. Meat was cooked as requested, medium rare. It had beef flavor but was too thin to seat properly without over cooking and was slightly too chewy. People expect sirloin to be more tender. If you can find a cheaper cut of steak, ie, not sirloin, like hangar or tri tip, or flank with good flavor you can substitute it. They have good beefy flavor but are more chewy :since it’s not not sirloin it can be a bit chewier and still be nice and beefy. Serve the onion sauce on the side.

    Desserts were both delicious.

    慕名來這間上海灘開了二十多年的法式餐廳 一進門就是濃濃的法式情調 店長MAY很是熱情貼心 用餐期間各方面的服務也很周到 這次秋季餐廳周的菜單推出都有嘗到了 青豆濃湯 澳洲海鱸魚 烤春雞以及甜點都挺出彩 推薦的餐酒口感也豐富 和閨蜜們在這倍感家的溫馨的餐廳度過了愉快的夜晚
